Food Allergy Week 2024 - Free Talks in June, July & August

26 May – 1 June is Food Allergy Week, a time to raise awareness of food allergies and improve community understanding of allergy aware strategies.

This year, Allergy Support Hub is offering free food allergy awareness talks between June-August in the Perth metropolitan area. If your organisation or group works with families, we have a 15-minute talk for families on Building an Allergy Aware Community. If you hold events and activities, you may be interested in our Allergy Aware Events workshop. Find more details below.

‘Building an Allergy Aware Community’ – Workshops for Families (15 minutes)
How can we build an allergy aware community? It is easier than we might think. In this 15-minute talk we explore allergy awareness and discuss small, practical and simple steps the community can take to keep children safe and be inclusive of families living with food allergies.

‘Allergy Aware Events’ – Workshops for Community Organisations (1 hour)
Community organisations work incredibly hard to hold inclusive community events. One often overlooked group are those living with food allergies. Social and community events can be challenging for children and families with food allergies and some will avoid these events altogether. Foods are a common feature at many events and allergy aware strategies are not widely known.
In this 1-hour workshop, we look at the challenges faced by children and families living with allergies and how community organisations can begin to build allergy awareness and inclusion into events.
